Mark Shorey AA BSc MA
(Royal) Chartered Institute of Journalists
I am English by birth and became an American citizen at the age of 18 being educated in the US, I repatriated to the UK in 1985.
My involvement in broadcasting began in 1982 when I was invited to join one of the first computerised high power radio stations located in Death Valley California between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. With experience in electrical engineering and fortunate to possess a strong voice I was eventually promoted to a supervisory role as news director. As technology advanced, I adapted quickly with breaking news production while keeping an emphasis on quality.
In 2019 I was inducted as a full member of the Chartered Institute of Journalists. The CIoJ is the oldest independent professional body for Journalists in the world, founded in 1884 and granted its Royal Charter by Queen Victoria.
Throughout my career, I have contributed to the evolution of digital communications from it’s infancy. Two of my proudest achievements were serving as regional News Director for National Public Radio (NPR) and as media consultant to the Chinese Government in Beijing during it’s transition from radio to online news delivery. There I oversaw journalistic conduct, content development, and production standards. I resigned my post when ordered to develop strategies against my ethics.
Currently, I have established a fully equipped production sound stage in central London, and am in the process of building a facility in the Scottish isles. I have committed my life to communications.
