Mark Shorey   AA BSc MA CIoJ

After validation of my credentials and qualifications I was honoured to be inducted as a full member of the Chartered Institute of Journalists. The CIoJ is the oldest independant professional body for Journalists in the world, founded in 1884 and granted its Royal Charter by Queen Victoria.

My involvement in broadcasting began in 1982 when I was invited to join one of the first computerised high power radio stations located in Death Valley California between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. With experience in sound engineering, radio operations and fortunate to possess a strong voice I was entrusted with a supervisory role. As technology advanced, I adapted quickly with breaking news production while keeping an emphasis on quality.

Throughout my career, I have contributed to the evolution of digital communications from it’s infancy. Two of my proudest achievements were  serving as regional News Director for National Public Radio (NPR) and as media consultant to the Chinese Government in Beijing while working at China Radio International (CRI). During it’s transition to online news delivery. There I played a vital role in teaching free world journalistic conduct, content development, and production standards. I resigned the position when ordered to participate in developing strategies that conflicted with my ethical judgement.

Currently, I have established a fully equipped production sound stage in central London, and am in the process of building another facility in Scotland. These studios reflect my ongoing commitment to the industry.
